The kids have just today finished the 3rd term. WHOO HOO!! It started out pretty rough with me loosing my job at the school, so it’s been a term of change. Which one of my kids do not like. In fact, he despises it but we made it through. I am now carpooling in the mornings with a mom from our church that lives not to far from us. She drives one week and I drive the next in the mornings. We try in the afternoons, but with everyone at different practices, it kinda makes it hard.
Anyways, Matthew is doing very well. He has been sick with sinusitis for most of the last month. We just can’t get him over it. So he has missed some school. I think these 2 weeks off will help. We have nothing planned except sleeping past 5:30am. Matthew was selected to be in the school band and has loved playing his bass.
He is in the worship band at our little church and being in the school band has just helped him learn the bass that much more. His school work has been hectic as they say here meaning that it has been a lot to manage, but I guess that is grade 11 for you. He took the SAT in June and is planning on attending University of Arkansas for engineering. We are going to look at Texas A&M and University of Texas while we are home this December, but his wish is to attend Arkansas.
Grace has enjoyed her third term. She played field hockey and loves it. We have big news with Grace and school. She is going to be homeschooled next year!! WHOO HOO!! Matthew will still attend Waterstone and have a full scholarship, but Grace did not receive a scholarship and we have prayed long and hard about this.
She is excited to explore subjects that are not offered at school. She loves art and photography and wants to learn French. I am not going to teach her French. I only know Spanish and some Afrikaans and Zulu. We have most of the curriculum already from my niece that just finished grade 10 including French. We will just add in some different electives. She will take dance from a studio where a lot of her friends from school take and also play hockey in a league. We are excited and anxious about the change, but know it is what God wants for her and me.
