20 years…who would have thought
WOW! 20 years married to David! I was speaking to a friend and was telling her in some ways it seems forever and then I think of those who have been married 40 or 50 years, like my parents. Now, that is an accomplishment.
We were just babies, although older than some, when we got married. I married David and got David and Andrew. Andrew is David’s son by his first marriage and was 12 when we married. David had custody of Andrew so I married both. It was an adjustment, but looking back it was easy. In the midst of the adjusting, it didn’t seem easy. I had people in my life that encouraged me. Blending a family and first year of marriage is quite the feat.
Then came Matthew and Grace along the way. Having babies and a teenager was the best. We love the teenage years. Although not easy and they are finding their way, it’s a wonderful age. I try and appreciate each stage of life, but I do prefer sleeping through the night and not changing diapers.
2017 is gonna bring changes. We are looking forward to becoming grandparents in August! Whoop! Can’t wait to spoil the child. I am homeschooling Grace, although she’s doing most of the work it seems. And Matthew started his senior/matric year. All big things happening this year. I can’t imagine doing life without David. He is my rock and sense of calm. He is so patient and sensible to my craziness and not sensible at times. We have spent 9 years in Africa. Almost half our marriage. You learn a lot about each other moving continents.
Can’t imagine the next 20 years, but I am ready for the adventure!
