Hey everyone… just thought I would send an update about what’s been happening with the family and David traveling to the regional summits. We have come to the end of the second term of school and PRAISE THE LORD!!!
It was an uphill battle for Matthew. After being sick he had a lot of catch-up work to do and then exams started. But with LOTS of prayer and support from teachers he made it to the end. Now we have pre-lims and finals and then he’s done. My baby is done with high school. Please keep him in your prayers until Oct. These are very stressful days.
Grace has been working to finish Grade 10 so she can be ready to start Grade 11 after winter holidays. Her goal is to be halfway through grade 11 when we arrive in the States in December. That way she will be caught up with her age group. Because of the differences in school terms, US being Aug to May and SA being Jan to Dec she is behind by half a year. We are probably going to put her in a co-op situation for school because she LOVES homeschooling, but feel like she would integrate better if she is around other high school kids.
David and Liz
David has been in 3 different countries for regional summits along with a regional summit in South Africa. They all went extremely well. It is always easier face to face to explain things and be able to minister when you are in the same country. We have several new countries that our African guys are pioneering into which is great! We are excited that the Africans are taking on this responsibility. Liz has been busy with visitors and the 6-week intern program we run for most Americans for a summer internship. It has been very encouraging to have one from McKinney and 3 others from America. Does Liz well to be encouraged by other Americans and to be able to pour into their lives her love for Africa.
We are spending the first week of July in Cape Town on vacation. We are super excited and going to climb Table Mountain. David and Liz climbed it last October, but the kids have never climbed it. We also will do some other touristy things while there. It will be good to get away as a family. We are also going to get to see some friends that have moved to Cape Town before we move back to the US. Then Grace will do sports camp the following week. Matthew is taking the week off and working on a bit of school work before the next week. The third week of winter break for the Grade 12s is Winter School. There is just so much curriculum to get through for the Grade 12s, the work never stops.
We covet your prayers for each of us as we continue to minister here, but also have a looming move. We are praising the Lord because a mission house has become available for us when we return. It’s in McKinney not too far from the church. This is a big relief. We are beginning some of our good-byes here so please pray for those and that we would continue to work and minister and finish well. While David won’t really be finishing because he will continue to work for J-Life and we will continue to depend on your financial support as well as especially prayers during the transition. Still working on a pharmacist job for Liz when we get back. Please pray doors will open there as well.
We love each of you and don’t take you for granted. We COULD NOT do what we do without you.
