What’s up Wednsday?? Well, all I can say about the last 2 months since I have written. It has been a stressful 2 months. Matthew has written 6 weeks of preliminary exams before starting the official IEB end of year exams on the 23rd of Oct. This seems to have consumed our life. People here tell you that your Matric (senior) year is one of the toughest times for the whole family and I now am a believer.
We do have some great news! We are grandparents. Elsie Margaret came into this world a little early. David and I spent our 20th-anniversary trip to go and see them for a week in Arkansas. We had to wait until Matthew was finished with prelims because he was staying with friends who also have a matric student. Grace stayed with Jann and Bhuti (friends and J-Life staff members). We left on a Thursday and arrived back 11 days later having spent 48 of those hours on a plane.
We arrived back at the end of term 3 for Matthew and Grace has finished grade 10 and is now working on grade 11. We had planned long ago we would take 4 days in Kruger National Park. Let me just say, this place is heaven and one of our most favorite places on earth. It is nature at it’s finest. There is little to no cell reception which is great unless you want to brag to others about seeing lion, cheetah, leopard, elephants, giraffes, and those are just a few.
Many of you may be wondering what is happening on Dec 13th when we land back in Dallas. First McKinney has generously provided us with a missionary house to stay in. Our advocacy team is working hard at gathering stuff. We are asking if you want to help to donate to TYW01 at First McKinney or give a Wal-Mart or Target or Ikea gift card. These can also be dropped off at the church office with John Shapiro.
David will still be working full-time with J-Life Africa in the same capacities as he is now, but he’ll be spending a lot more time on Skype. So, we still need your continuing prayer and financial support for his ministry work and expenses. He has 5 trips planned to various parts of Africa for Lead Team meetings and Regional Summits in 2018. If you have questions or want more info please email him at email@example.com. I will be working on finding a pharmacist job after the first of the year. We want to get the kids settled and get through the holidays before I start a new job. Please be in prayer that the right job comes my way.
Matthew will find a job and fit into a grade 12 life group at First McKinney. He hopes to start the University of Arkansas in the Fall of 2018. Grace will continue to homeschool and we have joined the coop, March, which I have been told lots of First McKinney kids are a part of.
Please be in prayer for our family as we have only 9 weeks left here in Africa. We are getting rid of most everything, again. Going through all the emotions of leaving friends who are like family. And leaving a ministry team we love. We want to finish well and give God all the glory, but finishing well is hard. So pray for our physical, mental, and emotional well being.
